Gulsen

Sankt Marein-Feistritz, Murtal District, Styria, Austria

Gulsen is a mountain peak and associated serpentinite quarry in Styria, Austria.

The quarry has been abandoned since around 2006.

It is likely any specimens simply labelled as being from ‘Gulsen’ are from the quarry rather than the mountain, but not guaranteed. Petition to start calling it ‘Gulsen Quarry’, anyone? 🙂

The site does produce some interesting and uncommon minerals – artinite, clinochlore, bronzite, mcguinessite, nakauriite, pyroaurite, smaragdite and others – mindat lists 40 mineral species from the site.
