Schöne Aussicht Mine

Dernbach, Wirges, Westerwaldkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Abandoned and reclaimed mine, with the site covered by woodland.

According to the owner of Tomeik Minerals (linked below, the Micromount club on Facebook), the site is long gone and transformed into woodland.

Mindat lists 47 minerals from the site, including two for which it is the type locality – Désorite and Hanauerite.

There seems to be rather a lot of quality microminerals from this site, and that is probably what its best known amongst collectors for.

The site is also known as Grube Schöne Aussicht. The MineralienZimmer site linked below states that the mine was abandoned since around 1900.

The dumps are still there, but reclaimed and buried under woodland. It is unlikely you are allowed to collect from the site.
