Osor Mines

Osor, Girona, Catalonia, Spain

Osor Mines (or Mines d´Osor) are an abandoned series of mines located along Riera d’Osor.

Mining in the area started around 1840, with some evidence of earlier extraction. The mines were primarily worked between 1900 and 1980.

The mine primarily exploited baryte, fluorite, lead, and zinc but also produced a range of mineral specimens.

Mindat lists 28 mineral species from the site.

The surface workings and dumps/tailings have now mostly been cleared away and the shafts are sealed/capped; meaning there is little to see on the surface of this locale.
