Okorusu Mine

Otjiwarongo Constituency, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia

A large open pit fluorite mine north of Otjiwarongo, known for producing fluorite specimens.

The site was worked from 1920 until 1963, then again (perhaps from 1988) until 2014. It looks as though the site is now being used as a graphite processing plant.

Some of the specimens of fluorite from the site were absolutely world class – although lower grade specimens do come from here too!

Perhaps some further mining or exploration will be done in the future.
