Crock Hey Mine

Wigan, Lancashire, UK

Crock Hey Mine was an open cast coal mine from the Lancashire Coal Field.

Showing the single result

Crock Hey produced fine specimens of plant and small animal fossils in Siderite nodules from the late Carboniferous period, but unfortunately it is now filled in and grown over.

While it is unlikely any further mining will take place on the site, it is possible a future landowner may wish to extract fossils from the site.
