I wasn’t actually able to find too much information on the locale itself.
Cerro means hill, so the locales name in English would perhaps be “hill of the concord”, or “hill of peace” or similar. Apologies for my poor translation, anyone who knows better!
The area around the hill, Piedra Parada, produces most of the ‘Veracruz’ or ‘Vera Cruz’ Amethyst – sometimes labelled as ‘Las Vigas’, too – a local town where most of the amethyst is distributed from.
The Amethyst from the site is often quite pale, and often colour zoned.
The best known minerals from the site are the amethyst and demantoid garnets, but other minerals can be found including various zeolites.
