Historically, stone arrowheads have been used for millenia, with the first archaeological evidence found in northwest Ethiopia dating to around 74,000 years old.
Finds in Sibudu Cave, South Africa date to around 64,000 years ago.
In the Americas, the Coopers Ferry site in Idaho, USA has produced some stone arrowheads from around 15,700 years ago.
Obviously, the pieces I sell here are modern, knapped in India and Mexico. They are not razor sharp; it is possible to knap Obsidian blades to be extremely sharp, but these sort of items would not be ideal to sell as giftware!
We really shouldn’t consider ever using these as actual arrowheads, and they’re definitely not the best aerodynamic shape or weighting for mounting to an arrow shaft.
Consider them just a curiousity!
