Torbernite from Old Gunnislake Mine, Clitters United Mines, Gunnislake, Calstock, Cornwall, England

Small specimens of Torbernite from the Old Gunnislake Mine.

Torbernite is a radioactive mineral - a copper uranyl phosphate with the formula Cu[(UO2)(PO4)]2(H2O)12.

It is relatively safe to handle and is only mildly radioactive, with only a very small amount of torbernite present on the face of the matrix.

It comes boxed, and was unfortunately mounted with blue-tac at one point, which has left a stain/remnants to one side. Obviously I have remounted it, with this side down.
