Libellula doris fossils - Dragonfly Larva
The small but distinct fossilised remains of Libellula doris, more commonly referred to as a dragonfly larva.
These pieces are around ten million years old, dating from the Tertiary period - the upper Miocene of Vittoria d'Alba, Cuneo, Italy.
These are extremely distinctive fossils, with good contrast. This specimen has a faint second specimen on the back but this is covered by at least another layer of stone.
The specimen we have in at the moment is 33x30x4MM, with the insect itself measuring 14x12MM approximately.
