Dypingite from Siebigerode, Mansfeld, Mansfeld-Südharz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
Specimen piece of dypingite and associated minerals from Siebigerode - a hydrated magnesium carbonate mineral.
Part of an older german collection and labelled as "Stbr. Siebigerode (Sprengplatz für silbersauen)", which I believe roughly translates to 'blasting area for silver ores' - this may mean 'blast furnace for silver' or similar, though. From the collection of Heinz Gabler of Erfurt. This specimen would benefit from remounting into a new box.
I was unable to find the smelter locale on Mindat for this site unfortunately.
