Nodules of matrix rock, containing fossilised crabs or crustaceans of unidentified species.
These can be prepared, either with hand tools or pneumatic / air tools.
Some nodules are harder than others and could only be prepped with air tools; some can be prepared by soaking them in water and using steel or tungsten needles and tools to slowly remove matrix.
Several places around the world have famous fossil crabs - some of which are exceptionally well preserved. I'd personally love a New Zealand crab!
Our current stock:
- 9 nodules from the Eocene London clay of Creeksea Cliff, Essex, UK - small nodules with visible fossils of darker material inside, unidentified crab or crustacean fossils. These are small nodules measuring only a centimeter or two across - say 10-25MM approx.
