Cockroach fossil specimens
I know, kinda gross right? At least these ones don't move. These are genuine cockroach fossils, from the order Blattodea.
Our current (and only) stock includes:
- #1 - 117x100x7.5MM - a nice quality specimen on a rounded matrix slab - unfortunately the locale given was just Brazil - but I suspect it is from the Crato formation, around Ceara and the Araripe basin. It is reasonably well preserved to the extent of having hairy legs - I've included a photos take under a 20x magnification and stitched together. The fossil itself measures approx 19x13MM. Has 'sch' written on the back - I'm afraid I'm not sure what that means.
Due to the nature of these rock 'plates', they can be very brittle if dropped or impacted, as a result we overpack these and do have to charge the 'small parcel' rates, even though the fossil would fit into a 'large letter' with a lot less packaging.
