Iron Mountain has been mined since the 1850s with Mormon pioneers. It stands 7815 feet tall, and is a part of the ‘Iron Mountain District’, a high grade ore deposit which is not currently being worked.
Between 1849 and 1965, the district produced over 72 million long tons of iron ore.
Mindat lists various minerals at the Iron Mountain site, including apatite, calcite, fluorapatite, hematite, magnetite, phosphosiderite, rockbridgeite and siderite.
