Cavradi gorge

Val Curnera, Tujetsch, Surselva Region, Grisons, Switzerland

The Cavradi gorge is the northern end of Val Curnera, with a high concentration of alpine type fissures and associated minerals.

Mindat lists 34 mineral species from the site, but my suspicion is most collectors will be interested in the quality quartz (rock crystal, amethyst, smoky quartz) specimens from the site – sometimes in association with hematite, brookite, and rutile.

Micro collectors may be interested in some uncommon species found at the site too – including some rare earth minerals.

There is a writeup of the site below on the mineralien-surselva site, which is well worth a read.
