One of the oldest mines in Russia, working a copper deposit near the town of Polevskoy.

Supplier of huge amounts of decorative Malachite – with decorative malachite from the site having been used to decorate the Winter Palace in Russia and Versailles in France, as well as others.

Mindat lists nearly 40 minerals from the site, so it isn’t just Malachite, but I suspect thats all I’ll see from the site anytime soon!

 

There are a few different names associated with this site, possibly due to different anglicisations of the cyrillic name.
