Konnerudkollen Mines
Konnerud, Drammen, Buskerud, Norway
Historic mining site working silver, copper, lead and zinc.
Showing the single result
The mines have been worked since at least 1729, with several other periods of exploitation, with large scale mining ending entirely in 1913.
Mindat lists 85 minerals from the site, with some being nice specimens, and a few rather uncommon minerals too.
This site may also be known as the Konnerud Mines, or Konnerudkollen gruver.
There are a number of sub localities, but I’ve decided to just list a single locale for ease as most of the specimens I was coming across were simply labelled ‘Konnerudkollen mines’.
Sublocalities include (links go to mindat):
- Baklia
- Dessau Mine
- Ehrlich Mine
- Erland Mine
- Glückauf Mine
- Gott mit uns Mine
- Isdriften
- Kontakt adit
- Nordskjerpet
- Sata prospect
- Wedelseie Adit
There is a great amount of information on the mines online, but a lot of it is in Norwegian.
It appears some of the mine has been opened up as a show cave/museum but I wasn’t able to find whether or not this is still active – only an undated Norwegian language post that didn’t sound good for the future of the site.
