Borstein
Reichenbach, Lautertal (Odenwald), Bergstraße, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany
Borstein is a mountain near Reichenbach, Germany. It is not technically a locality, but I’ll explain that below…
While choosing to represent an entire mountain as a locale is perhaps not the best move, in this case I don’t see there being much choice.
There are numerous sublocalities but they are all listed in the form ‘Fundpunkt 8.0’, which means ‘Find point 8.0’. There are nearly a dozen of these, and I don’t think it adds clarity to the website.
The mountain produces around 50 mineral species according to mindat, and is the type locality for two – medenbachite, and reichenbachite.
The ‘find points’ were primarily a series of quarries, many of which are now backfilled.
A better explanation of this can be seen on the Mineralatlas website, as they have a map marking the localities.
