Mont Denise

Espaly-Saint-Marcel, Le Puy-en-Velay, Haute-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Well known amongst micro mineral collectors, Mont Denise is both a hill and a quarry in a basalt cone.

Mindat lists 25 mineral species from the site, including some uncommon specimens – chayesite, osumilite, roedderite.

Of particularly interest to mineral collectors here might be the needle-like paramorphs of quartz after quartz-beta.
