Lill Mine

Černojamské deposit, Březové Hory, Příbram, Příbram District, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic

Lill Mine is a historic silver mine which also produced radioactive ore minerals.

There are rumours that the radioactive materials from the site were sent to Marie Curie in Paris, and these led to the discovery of radium – however, there does not appear to be any archival evidence of this.

The site was operated from at least 1855 until around 1902, with further explorations for radioactive materials between 1961 and 1965.

Mindat lists 67 minerals from the site, including two for which it is the type locality – bouškaite and znucalite. There are also numerous native minerals – arsenic, silver, and sulphur.
