Greenbushes Mine is an open pit mine primarily known for lithium, but also exploiting tantalum.
Greenbushes is primarily important nowadays for its lithium, and is potentially able to fulfil a third of the worlds demand for lithium concentrate.
As electric vehicles and other high end battery usage becomes more common, it is possible Greenbushes will be expanded. The deposit contains amongst the highest grade lithium ore on the planet.
Mindat lists 59 minerals from the site, although photos are few and far between – implying mineral specimens from the site are also somewhat uncommon – collection is not allowed.
The mine is the type locality for Ferro-holmquistite.
