Great Australia Mine

Cloncurry, Cloncurry Shire, Queensland, Australia

A large open cut copper, gold, and cobalt mine near the small town of Cloncurry.

The mine appears to have been worked from around 1867 until 1919, and then reopened in 1995 and is still in operation.

More recent explorations around the area have found some potential sources of mineralisation.

The site is the type locality for two minerals – barlowite and cloncurryite.
