Monchi Mine

Burguillos del Cerro, Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain

Monchi mine is a former iron ore mine primarily worked for Magnetite. It closed in 1978.

Various mineral specimens are listed for Monchi Mine, over 30 in total, including Andradite garnet, Axinite-Fe, Ferro-actinolite, Löllingite, Magnetite, Pyrrhotite, Scheelite, and Vonsenite.

It is a well known site in Spanish mineralogy, due to the relatively rare minerals Löllingite and Vonsenite being found here in some abundance.

The mine is a private site, but permission to visit may be asked for in the nearby village of Burguillos del Cerro.
