The mine may also be known as the ‘Etoile Mine‘, ‘Kalukuluku‘, or ‘Star of the Congo Mine‘.

Mindat lists 13 minerals from the site, but of particular interest is the fine Malachite which occurs in a range of excellent crystal formations – acicular and botryoidal being some of the best.

It is the type locality for Cornetite.

Some specimens from the country may be listed or labelled as Zaire, as it was named between 1971 and 1997. Before this it was potentially the Belgian Congo or Congo-Leopoldville; before this really depends on the age of the specimen.
