Coto San Guillermo

Jerez de Caballeros, Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain

A former iron ore mining area with several mines worked between 1907 and 1978.

Mines in this area primarily exploited hematite and magnetite, but other mineral specimens are found, notably including ferro-actinolite and hedenbergite. Mindat lists 10 minerals from the site.

Mines in this area include:

  • El Colmenar mine / Mina El Colmenar
  • San Guillermo mine / Mina San Guillermo
  • Santa Barbara mine / Mina Santa Bárbara
  • Santa Justa mine / Mina Santa Justa

El Colmenar and Santa Barbara were later subsumed by the San Carlos quarry (Cantera San Carlos).
