Cobalt area

Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada

A large area around the small town of Cobalt, in which many mines exploited cobalt, copper, nickel and silver.

Showing the single result

Mindat lists nearly 140 species of minerals from the area, as well as it being the type locality for seven minerals.

Native silver and silver wires are found in several locales around the area.

Shared dump tips in many cases lead to it being more reasonable to label specimens as “Cobalt area” rather than “combined tip of four mines”.
