It is known in Spanish as ‘Cantera Azcárate‘ and sometimes ‘Minas de Eugui‘.

A number of minerals are found at the locale – Mindat lists 25, including fine examples of bariosincosite, dolomite, and fluellite.

Asturreta, Azcárate and Lavasar are the three ‘cuts’ that make up Eugui mines; in 2020 producing 260k tons of Magnesite.

Most of the mineralisation within the magnesite appears to occur within Azcárate, which is likely why the distinction between the overall mine name and the smaller area name is made.
