Aranga Quarry

Aranga, Kaipara District, Northland Region, New Zealand

An active basalt quarry at the north of North Island.

Produces nice specimens of calcite, zeolites, and cavansite.

The site produces a range of mineral specimens – mindat lists 18. It is the type locality for one, Waipouaite.

It is probably best known for zeolite minerals and those that typically occur alongside zeolites; Cavansite, Chabazite, Gismondine, Okenite, Thomsonite.
