Anahi Mine
Puerto Quijarro Municipality, Germán Busch Province, Santa Cruz, Bolivia
The Anahi Mine sits in eastern Bolivia, close to the border with Brazil. It exploits Quartz veins in the form of Amethyst, Ametrine, Citrine, and milky/clear Quartz.
Showing the single result
It is worth pointing out there are a lot of myths and legends around the mine, some of which are not accurate..
The mine produces fine specimens of Quartz of different varieties, including amethyst, ametrine, and citrine. Some of the ametrine from the locale has fine colour zoning, which can lead to well delineated triangles of colour.
The Ametrine from the site is by far the most well known specimen, often sold cut and polished.
Anyone interested in the site should read the GIA PDF linked below, entitled “THE ANAHi AMETRINE MINE, BOLIVIA”, by Paulo hi. Vasconcelos, Hans-Rudolf LVenk, and George R. Rossman.
