Alpe Machetto Mine

Cascine Machetto, Quittengo, Campiglia Cervo, Biella Province, Piedmont, Italy

A former molybdenum mine north of Biella, Italy.

Mindat lists 24 minerals from the site, some of which are rather rare and interesting – covellite, ferrimolybdite, hydrokenoelsmoreite, ferritungstite, etc.

Unfortunately, and understandably, most of the information on this mine is in Italian – and often in textbook form too which I’m afraid I don’t have access to.

There is a speleological survey on the Catastrogrotte link below, and the workings appear to be quite small.
