Graptolite Fossils

Graptolites were aquatic colonial animals, which lived 320-520 million years ago.

They are ordinarily preserved as flat impressions in mudstones but have been found in 3D, particularly in limestone. They have a worldwide distribution and are an important fossil for dating strata and understanding geological history, as they evolved quickly.
