Specimens of Wolframite (a tungsten ore) from Hingston Down Quarry in Cornwall. Hingston Down is an active aggregrate quarry but does produce some fine minerals too!

These pieces are very heavy for their weight due to the high metal content; and are typically in a quartz matrix.

Wolframite is, of course, not a true mineral - it is a series between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but is a suitable name where laboratory testing is not possible or economical.
