Rainbow Obsidian spheres / crystal balls

These spheres are cut from a single piece of natural volcanic Obsidian.

This material is pitch black and opaque to the eye, and until viewed in a bright direct light, will remain black. In the presence of an extremely bright light a colourful iridescence appears - hence the 'rainbow' name.

This colour can be viewed under bright light, for example the light on your phone. Whether or not they will show up slightly better in sunlight is hard to say, as I photographed these in December!

Consider them a low grade of rainbow Obsidian.
