Menilite specimens (Goddess Stone)
Menilite specimens are a form of opaline concretion, often referred to as a Goddess stone. It is named after its original find location - Ménilmontant, Paris, Ile-de-France, France.
It is possible they are an impure or 'young' form of flint nodule. Consensus seems to be lacking on whether to describe them as opal or opaline, and I tend to trust mindat on these matters.
They form very strange, blobby shapes that sometimes look like a chrysalis or egg casing.
