Echinoid Fossils

Echinoid fossils are the remains of ancient sea urchins, a type of echinoderm, that have been preserved in the fossil record.

Echinoid fossils are recognized by their spherical or disc-shaped shells, which are covered in spines (depending on their preservation!) and have a distinctive five-fold symmetry.

Echinoid fossils are important indicators of past marine environments and can provide insights into the evolution and diversity of life on Earth.
